Phyllomacromia africana (Selys, 1871)
Sahel Cruiser
Type locality: Nubia, Egypt
Diagnosis
Male is similar to P. pseudafricana by (a) smaller size, Hw 27-32 mm; (b) thorax with 3 pale stripes on each side; (c) dorsum of S10 flat, at most with rounded hump but without cones; (d) cerci yellow, may be darker at base, usually paler than epiproct. However, differs by (1) vertex and occipital triangle at least partly pale rather than dark; (2) hamule with smoothly curved border, narrowing gradually towards hook; (3) anal notch of Hw obtuse rather than acute; (4) pale markings on S3-6 usually extend onto apical halves; (5) apical border of S10 with black denticles (hard to see when S10 dark).
