Onychogomphus seydeli (Schouteden, 1934)
Southern Dark Claspertail
Synonyms:
- scientific: Tragogomphus seydeli; O. septemflavum Fraser, 1955; O. quirkii Pinhey, 1964
Type locality: Lubumbashi, DRC
Diagnosis
Male is similar to O. styx and other dark supinus-group Onychogomphus species by (a) labrum black; (b) face sometimes all pale, but usually at least postclypeus partly dark; (c) broadly black on humeral stripe, this area at least as wide as flanking pale stripes; (d) all tibiae all black; (e) foliations on S8-9 about equally deep. However the taxonomy of these species is unresolved and O. seydeli is thought to range from Katanga to N Zambia, possibly S Malawi. [Adapted from Dijkstra & Clausnitzer 2014]
